Environmental Product Declarations (EPD)

Environmental product declarations (EPD) for building products provide data relating to the environment. An EPD can be used to prove that a product meets the basic requirements of the European Construction Products Regulation. Essentially, the procedure for EPD creation or verifying an EPD's content is regulated in ISO 14025 "Environmental labels and declarations – Type III environmental declarations – Principles and procedures" and in EN 15804 "Sustainability of construction works. Environmental product declarations. Core rules for the products category of building products".

The IBO models the lifecycle assessment, interprets and describes the underlying data and writes up both the background report on the EPD and, if required, the EPD texts for subsequent submission to an EPD platform. Of course, we can also advise you and provide assistance with any questions concerning EPD creation.

The aim of the Austrian EPD platform for building products Bau EPD GmbH is to create a uniform basis for the preparation of lifecycle assessments in the construction sector. These efforts should lead to consistent, and thus comparable building material data, which can also be used in building evaluation systems.
