IBO mark of conformity
The IBO test mark is an independent, recognized eco-label that has provided guidance in the construction products market since the 1980s. Building products that meet the defined ecological criteria can be certified with the IBO test mark. A comprehensive test report is prepared for every certified product. Here you will find an updated overview of all certified products, their corresponding certificates, and the underlying testing criteria.
For consumers, the IBO test mark serves as a reliable guide for selecting ecologically sound and health-safe products. It is classified as an ISO 14024 Type I eco-label. Products awarded the mark fulfill the specific IBO test criteria for their respective category and provide verified proof for use in high-performance green building projects.
Benefits of the IBO Test Mark
Companies awarded the IBO test mark provide their customers with verified guidance when selecting building materials. The IBO test mark:
- Provides transparent, third-party confirmation of health and building-ecology product properties based on defined criteria
- Complements internal factory production control (FPC) with health and ecological assessment factors
- Identifies potential ecological improvements within the manufacturing process
- Strengthens product market positioning
- Contributes to positive ratings in green building assessment systems such as TQB or klimaaktiv, depending on the product group
- Can secure subsidies in various Austrian regional housing subsidy schemes (dependent on product group and federal state)
Products bearing the IBO test mark are prioritized in IBO training, consulting, and online platforms for construction professionals. Informative summaries are also published in customer-friendly brochures, industry journals, and online.
Scope of Application
IBO product testing primarily targets construction products manufactured in Austria and/or available on the Austrian market. This includes building materials, interior finishes, structural components, building services (HVAC), and sanitary installations. General substance requirements and criteria for mineral extraction precede the specific product-group requirements.
Assessment is currently available for the following product categories:
- Pre-cast concrete parts
- Screeds
- Gypsum plasters and fillers (criteria catalogue under revision)
- Plasterboard
- Mineral fills made of expanded glass
- Mineral fills made of expanded clay
- Cement-bonded, fibre-reinforced construction panels (criteria catalogue under revision)
- Ready-mixed concrete
