The building material information system WECOBIS – developed as part of the Zukunft Bau initiative – offers independent information on the health and environmental aspects of building product groups and raw materials including possible areas of application and the classification of raw materials, production, processing, use and reuse according to lifecycle phases. Furthermore, it also offers assistance in matters of planning and tendering.

The German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Construction and Nuclear Safety (BMUB) provides up-to-date and freely accessible information on building materials via the online ecological information system, WECOBIS.

With the ÖKOBAUDAT platform, the German Federal Ministry of the Environment, Nature Conservation, Construction and Nuclear Safety (BMUB) provides a unified database for building lifecycle assessment. Building materials as well as construction and transport processes are described in terms of their environmental impact. The ÖKOBAUDAT platform offers both generic data sets and company- or association-specific data sets from environmental product declarations.
The data published in ÖKOBAUDAT is accessible free of charge and can be used for lifecycle assessment at component and building level.
