In 2011, the EcoBuildingCriteria were published as a harmonization between ÖkoKauf Wien and the Umweltverband Vorarlberg and have since been applied accordingly. During the project period, the criteria were revised on the basis of new findings, market developments and, above all, the experience gained in recent years.

Since 2011, these criteria have remained largely unchanged. The aim of the revision was, in particular, to ensure harmonisation with all relevant product groups of the Austrian Ecolabel by 2020.

The new criteria will be published under the title "List of criteria 2020". Manufacturers and traders have been able to declare their products on baubook since June 2018 according to the new criteria.

It is intended to tender all construction projects according to the "List of criteria 2020" from 1 January 2020.

The scope of the criteria is growing: As a new partner, the province of Lower Austria participated in the revision. In the near future harmonisation with the naBe (National Procurement of the Confederation) will be completed.
