Austrian construction companies are among the most innovative and future-oriented building manufacturers worldwide. The fact that the demand for resources and living space are increasing, more energy for building conditioning is needed due to the ongoing climate change and an increasing level of comfort are the guiding principle behind sustainable construction. Besides economic, energetic and ecological issues in connection with potentially viable and sound building concepts and solutions in the future, the question of the technological basis for future buildings and their grid integration is vital.
Within the research and innovation network “HdZ2Market” it is aimed to raise awareness, build capacities and close gaps in skills of already successful positioned companies in order to exploit their full potential in the area of sustainable building. On the one hand the innovation capacity of companies will be strengthened, on the other hand the target-oriented transfer of the latest scientific findings pave the way for the market uptake of innovative solutions and building components.
The methodology includes a mix of didactical and practice-oriented instruments:
- Thematic workshops for an effective transfer of knowledge and skills in each building related sub task, components and interdisciplinary issues in order to provide a holistic context
- Distance learning and joint project tasks allow for more flexible attendance and respond to individual needs and requirements of participants
- Excursions to current light-house projects both newly constructed and renovated ones
- Networking, public affairs and knowledge transfer in order to establish long-term cooperation amongst the participating companies and academia
Primarily, the qualification network HdZ2market includes the embedding of knowledge and an increase in the innovation capacity of companies in the area of sustainable building. Additionally, the establishment of long-term cooperation between participating companies as well as between academia and companies is essential. In order to support companies in dealing with future requirements and to increase the knowledge base, the holistic learning concept and target-oriented learning approach allow for a finely balanced mix of qualification measures. At the same time, the practical experience and knowledge from companies leads to improvements of future educational programs and training courses.
