Peter Walker, Professor of Landscape Architecture, is one of the most influential landscape architects of our time - both as a teacher and in his work. His best-known designs include the Nasher Sculpture Garden in Dallas, the Novartis Campus in Basel and the World Trade Center Memorial in New York. The author analyzes this work in retrospect and takes an unbiased look at the development of parks and squares over the decades. He examines the key design features and also looks at technically challenging designs that play an important role in the urban environment.
Walker's gardens and landscapes are characterized by minimalist forms combined with agricultural-inspired scale. The spaces are classic and at the same time very modern.
