Procedure and evaluation
The DGNB/ÖGNI certification process follows these steps:
- Registration: The client commissions IBO and also enters into a certification agreement with DGNB/ÖGNI.
- Pre-certificate: Pre-certification offers the opportunity to embed key sustainability requirements early in the planning process and mitigate risk. While voluntary and not mandatory, it is highly recommended.
- Submission: IBO supports the planning process and carries out the certification work. The project is evaluated against the DGNB/ÖGNI criteria catalog, and all relevant supporting documentation is submitted.
- Compliance check and certification: The certificate is awarded following the completion of the review by DGNB/ÖGNI.
Evaluation system
The evaluation is based on a point system; the logic for the award levels is shown in the accompanying illustration. The highest award granted by DGNB/ÖGNI is the Platinum certificate. In principle, both an overall fulfillment rate and a minimum fulfillment rate within specific thematic areas must be achieved. The minimum fulfillment rate applies to the three main quality categories: ecological, economic, and socio-cultural quality. Additionally, ÖGNI presents the "ÖGNI KRISTALL" award to highlight buildings that achieve a combined score of over 80% in socio-functional quality.
